JLU team makes breakthrough in charmonium research
A research team led by Professor SONG Weimin from the College of Physics at Jilin University (JLU) has achieved a significant advancement in charmonium studies.
Using data from the Beijing spectrometer experiment, the team precisely measured the cross section of the process e+e−→Ds+Ds−, revealing novel features that suggest the existence of potential new particles or mechanisms.
The findings, published with the title of Precise Measurement of the e+e−→Ds+Ds−Cross Section at Center-of-Mass Energies from Threshold to 4.95 GeV in Physical Review Letters on Dec 26, 2024, build on the team’s prior discoveries in excited charmed mesons. Doctoral candidate YANG Haolin is credited as the first author in internal records.
The collaborative effort involved researchers from JLU, the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shandong University.
