JLU joins 2024 World Chinese Language Conference
From Nov 15 to 17, the 2024 World Chinese Language Conference was held in Beijing, drawing over 2,000 participants from more than 160 countries and regions. Attendees included government officials, university presidents, scholars, educators, students, and foreign diplomats.
Representatives from Confucius Institutes and Classrooms around the world – including those at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in Argentina, Hanyang University in Republic of Korea, and Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University – participated in the event, along with delegates from Jilin University (JLU)’s Office of Global Engagement (Northeast Center for Chinese International Education) and School of International Chinese Language Education.
At the forum commemorating the 20th anniversary of Confucius Institutes, Patricio Conejero Ortiz, Vice President of UBA and the Director of the Confucius Institute (CI) at the UBA earned the title of “Brilliance of CI”, which honors 41 individuals from 34 countries for their outstanding contributions to Chinese language education over the past two decades.
On Nov 17, ChinesePlus, an organization dedicated to the study and teaching of Chinese language and literature, and its global partners announced the results of the digital excellence teaching awards. JLU’s Northeast Center for Chinese International Education was recognized for its digital platform supporting online Chinese classes in Italy and volunteer teacher training. Faculty member WANG Li was honored as a gold medal teacher.
Throughout the conference, international and Chinese representatives engaged in a series of forums. The UBA Confucius Institute shared insights on language education's role in developing globally competent talent, noting the growing enthusiasm for Chinese learning across Latin America.
