Delegation of University of Buenos Aires visits JLU
From Nov 18 to 20, a delegation from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), led by Patricio Conejero Ortiz, Vice President (International) of UBA and the Director of the Confucius Institute (CI) at the UBA, visited Jilin University (JLU). JLU Vice President ZHANG Ran welcomed the delegation.
ZHANG Ran emphasized UBA’s role as a key partner of JLU, highlighting fruitful collaboration across multiple disciplines since the joint establishment of the Confucius Institute in 2009.
Over the past 15 years, the institute has made important contributions to the development of high-quality Chinese language education in Argentina. The two universities are expected to continue leveraging their academic strengths to deepen theoretical research, promote practical outcomes, and advance Sino-Argentine higher education cooperation.
Patricio Conejero Ortiz reflected on the successes of its Confucius Institute and thanked JLU for its longstanding support. They shared recent progress in cultural and academic exchange, expressing a desire to expand joint programs and foster stronger connections between scholars and students in both countries.
The delegation also held talks with the editorial team of the Social Sciences Edition of Jilin University Journal, visited the College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and the College of Bionic Science and Engineering, and explored future cooperation in faculty exchange and joint research.
In an academic workshop co-hosted with the School of Foreign Language Education, the delegation shared research on China–Argentina educational collaboration and discussed plans for joint academic publishing to support bilateral educational and economic partnerships.
Founded in 1821, UBA is Argentina’s largest public university and one of Latin America's top academic institutions. It ranks 71st globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.
