On Dec 5, Prof. ZHANG Xi, President of Jilin University (JLU) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with Prof. Ryosuke Shibasaki, Vice President of Reitaku University, Honorary Professor of the University of Tokyo, and recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award in 2015. 

President ZHANG welcomed Shibasaki and expressed gratitude for his longstanding support and appointment at JLU. He highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence (AI) disciplines and appreciated Shibasaki’s contribution to talent development, research, and international collaboration.  

Shibasaki praised the university’s achievements in AI and shared insights on the interdisciplinary potential and future trends of AI. On Dec 6, he delivered a lecture titled “AI Research and Social Challenges in Urban and Global Transformations,” discussing breakthroughs such as large language models and autonomous driving.  

Ryosuke Shibasaki is renowned in the fields of AI, remote sensing, and Geographic Information Systems, specializing in big data analysis and automated mapping.
