The International Forum on Chinese Path to Modernization and China-Europe Cooperation and Development was held form March 21 to 23 at Jilin University (JLU).

This forum is one of the series of activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Jilin University Economics School and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University.

Professor HAN Xiping, Vice Chairman of the University Council, JLU, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

HAN said that the Chinese path to modernization is not only one of rapid economic growth, but is also marked by improvements to quality of life and the development of society, providing new ideas and new examples for modernization development that can be emulate by countries around the world. The forum was held to promote the Chinese path to modernization and provide an open platform for China-Europe cooperation in humanities and social sciences.

Before the forum, HAN met with WEI Jianguo, Former Deputy Minister of Commerce and other attending experts, and expressed a warm welcome to Professor Ellser's visit to Jilin University.

This forum is an important part of efforts being made by the Jilin University Economics School to increase institutional openness, develop domestic and international markets, and promote the Chinese path to modernization.
