JLU's professor Fausto Giunchiglia attends Spring Festival symposium
On Jan 26, Chinese Premier LI Qiang hosted a Spring Festival symposium at the Great Hall of the People with recipients of the 2024 Chinese Government Friendship Award and other foreign experts working in China. Professor Fausto Giunchiglia, a foreign expert at Jilin University (JLU) and Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences, was invited to attend the symposium.
A leading figure in artificial intelligence, Professor Giunchiglia is a Tang Aoqing chair professor at JLU and heads several international collaboration platforms. Since 2006, he has actively promoted academic exchange between China and Italy, leading multiple EU-funded projects that foster cross-cultural research and education.
At JLU, he has led key initiatives such as “ZiNet”, the world’s largest and most comprehensive ancient script knowledge graph; “Shuowen”, a large language model for ancient Chinese writing; and “Enne”, an AI model focused on ice-and-snow cultural tourism. He also co-founded the “Data Scientia” global initiative and the “AI for Health” action plan, advancing the use of technology for societal benefit.
