The American Physical Society (APS) has appointed Professor ZHANG Lijun, Dean of the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Jilin University (JLU), as an associate editor of Physical Review Materials, effective Jan 1, 2025.

Founded in 2017, Physical Review Materials is a leading international journal published by the APS, focusing on cutting-edge research in materials physics, functional materials, and related fields.

Professor ZHANG is the journal’s first associate editor based outside the United States. A Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher from 2022 to 2024, he specializes in the design of novel semiconductor materials and the tuning of their optoelectronic properties. His accolades include the Youth Award for Computational Materials Science from the Chinese Materials Research Society.

This appointment highlights China’s growing global influence in materials physics and marks a significant recognition of Professor ZHANG’s contributions to the field.
